RETRACTED Exploring the Impact of Extension Activities of the Department of Industrial Technology: Evidence from the Narratives

Abstract

The Department of Industrial Technology implemented different extension activities from 2017 to 2021 through the collaboration of its faculty, students, and stakeholders. The study provided significant evidence of the impact of the various extension activities of the Department of Industrial Technology. This research study that focused on the impact assessment of the extension activities of the department will serve as a basis and pathway for the improvement of extension activities of the department. This study used a qualitative research design, particularly a phenomenological approach, and the participants were purposively selected from 2017 to 2021. The focus of the impact assessment study were the five major extension activities that were conducted from the Rosarian Probe which is the previous extension banner of the campus. The study revealed that there was a total of six extension activities conducted by the department from the time range. Additionally, there was valid evidence of the social-economic impact of the clientele of various extension activities conducted by the department based on the narratives of the clientele, and there were challenges identified, namely, literacy, expenses, logistics, and accessibility to equipment. This study recommended various strategies that will improve the delivery of future extension activities of the department, from the initial planning, utilization of training materials, and the adoption of a learner-sensitive strategy of execution delivery.
