Pagbubukas ng Panitikang Popular sa Digital: Isang Deskriptibong Pagsusuri sa mga Akdang Wattpad na Naisapelikula
Abstract
Wattpad is one of the platforms being looked at to promote and develop literature in the digital realm. It can enhance the appreciation and development of writing through the diversity of interactions when its readers. For this reason, the current study aims to describe the literary characteristics of the stories from Wattpad. The researcher utilized a qualitative research design, employing a descriptive method for data analysis. Content analysis was also employed to ensure thorough and systematic data gathering. The gathered data were from reading and analyzing selected Wattpad works intended for adaptation to films. The study employed post-modernism theory to examine the content of Wattpad stories, drawing parallels with traditional literature. It also focused on analyzing works that express societal emotions and introduce the generation influenced by Western culture. Additionally, the study identified several characteristics of Wattpad stories: they explore dramatic life events, have a strong following, feature vibrant characters, possess unique plots, highlight the author’s achievements, and address timely and relevant issues. These characteristics are comparable to those of traditional short stories, except that Wattpad stories are editable, available online, and interactive with readers. From the study’s results, the conclusions were drawn: Wattpad stories adapted to films are closely aligned with traditional literature, with the primary differences being their online availability, reader interaction, and editability. Readers can comment on each part, although the decision to incorporate these suggestions lies with the author. Furthermore, Wattpad as a one of modern venue for literature showcases elements of postmodernism by providing access, promoting new forms, inspiring new writers, building a community, and fostering multicultural awareness. These contributions can help and enrich regional literature.
